Walmart announced three major holiday promotions from November 12 through December 2, aiming to ease consumer budgets and reduce shopping stress. Walmart is expanding its Black Friday and Cyber Monday calendar while offering Walmart+ members early access to select deals. A new Muppet-themed holiday marketing campaign will support the promotions, which Walmart says are designed to help shoppers find thousands of gifts under $20, beauty and home favorites, popular toys, and fashion items at low prices.

Holiday Promotions Schedule

The first event, Early Black Friday, runs from November 12-15. Online shopping begins at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time, with Walmart+ members receiving early access to hot deal drops at the same time. General customers can access remaining hot deal drop items at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time on November 13. The second event, Black Friday, spans November 23-29. Walmart+ early access starts at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time on November 23, while other hot deal drops open to all customers at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time on November 24.

Cyber Monday takes place from November 30 to December 2 on Walmart.com only, beginning at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time. Walmart developed its holiday assortment to suit a wide range of consumer budgets. According to Walmart’s research, 60% of shoppers stated that holiday and gift prices affect their feelings about the season, while 70% said lower prices would make holiday shopping easier.

Muppet-Infused Marketing Campaign

The Walmart Christmas marketing campaign, titled “A Who Knew Carol,” draws inspiration from the classic holiday film “The Muppet Christmas Carol.” The campaign features Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, The Great Gonzo, Rizzo the Rat, and Pepé the King Prawn alongside entertainers Walton Goggins as Ebenezer Scrooge and Stephanie Beatriz as Scrooge’s niece. Walmart described the initiative as an extension of its ongoing campaign with Goggins, bringing a twist to the holiday classic by suggesting even Scrooge can be surprised by Walmart’s holiday assortment, brands, and prices.

The “A Who Knew Carol” campaign is running across media channels and includes a series of videos and social content showcasing Walmart’s holiday assortment. William White, Walmart chief marketing officer, stated that the campaign “brings Walmart’s holiday campaign to life in a way that’s playful, memorable and full of unexpected surprises all season long.” He added that pairing The Muppets’ charm with Goggins’ humor demonstrates Walmart’s ability to surprise customers with the brands, gifts, deals, and convenience they need to make the season more joyful.

Julie Barber, Walmart U.S. chief merchandising officer, emphasized that the retailer is offering customers and members “incredible savings across three major shopping events, along with the brands they love, exciting new discoveries and easier ways to shop, and even a few ‘who knew’ moments along the way.” She noted that this approach is “all about helping our customers save more, discover more and make more room for what matters.”
